Keys of light: play the piano and let the Dom shine with enchanting projections

With Keys of Light you can put the Dom in the spotlight in a unique way while playing the piano. Keys of Light is an interactive piano installation designed by Mr. Beam. An interplay between music, light and architecture. Everyone who plays the piano, with every note and every key combination, ensures an enchanting projection on our Dom tower. In short: everyone plays their own show!

With great interest, Margreet gave a performance on the piano of Keys of Light on Thursday 31 October.
The Domplein was filled with the warm sounds of her self-written songs from especially her album & #8216; Moving Friends & #8217 ;. Her sounds were transformed into a dynamic light projection on the Dom.
Many passers-by remained amazed and enjoyed the spectacle, some couples even got themselves stimulated and spontaneously started to dance the tango.

Utrecht was able to get acquainted with the wonderful music of Margreet in this great way.

Light project Keys of Light decorates Dom tower for weeks

Large projectors illuminate the Dom Tower and pianists can operate the lights on Dom Square. The project will remain in place until December 21.

There is a piano on Domplein that serves projectors that are aimed at the Dom tower in the scaffolding. Depending on the music being played, different projections appear on the Utrecht icon.
Christiaan Kuyvenhoven, known from the Dutch National Opera, among others, is the first pianist to play on the Domplein in Utrecht.
“From 16 October to 21 December 'Keys of Light' offers all kinds of pianists, from young to old and from amateur to professional, the opportunity to play and thus create their own projections. 'Keys of Light' can in principle be seen and heard every evening, except on Wednesday and Sunday evenings ”, according to the organization.

Keys
The project is an initiative of Stichting Utrechts EigenDom and subsequently created by the Utrecht company Mr. Beam, known among other things for the projection at the Nijntje museum. "An intimate gesture on the piano is grandly visible on the Dom Tower"said Mo Assem, director of Mr. Beam, “Everything influences the projection. High notes and low notes, the combination of notes and also how hard and how fast they play. "

According to the organizers, a work of art such as 'Keys of Light' has never before been shown on this scale in the Netherlands.

This summer I had a very happy stay at the Castelnau in Lagardedes Fieumarcon with the Portuguese family Coustol / Mendonca from Lisboa and their friends: artists, journalists, writers and musicians.

It was very nice spending our time together and an honor to make music with them and perform the first concert ever on the new beautiful stage: a grand piano located on the roof tower.
While playing music we could hear the sound of the "crickets"
Pianist Simon from Australia was one of the other performers.

Beautiful moments I will never forget.

PROUD OF THE BEAUTIFUL REVIEW Rick van Boeckel wrote in Writteninmusic about our Alive! CD

Alive! is a live recording made by Jan van Rijnsoever of Tangata and singer Jeannine Geerts in TivoliVredenburg. Tangata consisting of Margreet Markerink (piano), Jacqueline Edeling (bandoneón) was reinforced for this live recording with the Argentinian violinist Andrea Bentivoglio and double bassist Boris Franz. The five perform on this album a number of beautiful tangos such as Piazzolla's Libertango, still the best, Invierno Porteà ± o and Mumuki in which the tango melancholy is strongly expressed, with subtle piano accompaniment and classically tinted violin sounds.

Markerink's own compositions are also very successful :innesota tango, Luces de Belmonteen and the jazzyTake A Breath. And the instrumental piano-violin duet Los Mareados by Juan Carlos Cobian. Jeannine Geerts convincingly brings Maria de Buenos Aires to life in Piazzolla and Horacio Ferrer composed and written. Yo soy Mariaen sings very powerfully in Los Pájaros Perdidos by Piazzolla that can be found just like Oblivion on Historias del Sur (Stories from the South), Tangata in 2012 released. Outside the tango framework are the songs sung by Jeannine Geerts, Hijo de La Luna (by José Maria Cano) and the by Yasmin Levy known Una Noche Másdat, which stands out in terms of feeling, interpretation and timing. Van Rijnsoever recorded the album in such a way that the live performance comes across strongly, including applause!
